چکیده
A 38-year-old with ankylosing spondylitis presented to a sports medicine clinic following traumatic cycling accident. Physical exam found pain, swelling and ecchymosis overlying the proximal thigh. Point of care ultrasound revealed an underlying large hematoma causing closed degloving tissue or Morel-Lavallée lesions. MRI confirmed size lesion diagnosis made previously. The patient was treated conservatively without any invasive procedures, infection excellent pain control.

متن کاملUltrasound Utility in the Diagnosis of a Morel-Lavallée Lesion
Morel-Lavallée lesions are uncommon injuries that can be associated with significant comorbidities if not detected early. Rapid diagnosis in the Emergency Department could significantly improve patient outcomes. We describe the diagnosis of such a lesion through the use of ultrasound imaging in the Emergency Department to utilize a fast, cost-effective imaging technique that does not subject th...
متن کاملMorel-Lavallée Lesion: Report of a Case of Unknown Mechanism
Morel-Lavallée lesions are cystic lesions occurring between the subcutaneous tissue and the underlying layer of a fascia. The most frequent mechanism of occurrence is posttraumatic, usually after degloving injuries. The chain of events leading to the occurrence of this lesion is the formation of a potential space between the subcutaneous tissue and the firmly attached deep fascia, which in turn...
متن کاملDelayed Presentation of a Chronic Morel-Lavallée Lesion.
Morel-Lavellée lesions are soft tissue degloving injuries resulting from shearing trauma that induces separation of the superficial and deep fascias creating a potential space that becomes filled with hemolymph. Here we present a case of a 28-year-old male presenting with a persistent Type I Morel-Lavallée lesion 2.5 years after an automobile versus pedestrian accident. These lesions can be vis...
متن کاملEncapsulated Fat Necrosis Lesion Caused by Morel-Lavallée Lesion in a Professional Ice Hockey Player.
Morel-Lavallée (ML) lesions occur when subcutaneous tissue is stripped from fascia and replaced with hematoma or necrotic fat. Encapsulated fat necrosis lesions, which are rare, can occur with disruption of the blood supply in the subcutaneous area, which occurs with ML lesions. In this article, we report the case of a professional ice hockey player with an ML lesion that caused a symptomatic e...
